Health & Safety and Environment Manager
Helsing, a defense AI company dedicated to protecting democracies through technological leadership, is seeking a Health & Safety and Environment Manager to join their London team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that Helsing's rapidly expanding UK operations across land, sea, and air are conducted safely, sustainably, and in compliance with all relevant regulations. The Health & Safety and Environment Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously refining comprehensive HSE policies aligned with national regulations and Helsing's standards. Key duties include conducting regular risk assessments, site safety inspections, and HSE audits across all UK facilities to proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards. The role also involves leading investigations into workplace incidents, producing detailed reports with root-cause analyses, and implementing preventative measures to reduce recurrence. Additionally, the manager will design and deliver HSE training programs and site inductions to ensure all employees, visitors, and contractors understand and fulfill their safety and environmental responsibilities.
Candidates should hold a NEBOSH National Diploma or an equivalent advanced qualification in Occupational Health and Safety. Experience in building and delivering HSE policy frameworks in complex, multi-site operational environments is essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading workplace incident investigations, producing root-cause analyses, and implementing preventative measures that have demonstrably improved safety outcomes. Experience representing an organization with external regulatory bodies, including managing inspections or formal consultations, is also required. Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively chair senior safety forums and working groups, engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences. Eligibility for UK security clearance and a willingness to undergo the government vetting process are mandatory.
