HR Business Partner
Thinking Machines Lab is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join our San Francisco team. As a leading AI research and product company, we are dedicated to advancing collaborative general intelligence and providing accessible AI tools tailored to individual needs. Our team comprises scientists, engineers, and builders responsible for widely used AI products such as ChatGPT, Character.ai, and PyTorch.
In this role, you will coach managers to enhance their leadership effectiveness by observing their practices, identifying strengths and areas for improvement, and fostering continuous development. You will advise leadership on organizational decisions, including team structuring, succession planning, and strategic personnel choices. Additionally, you will design compensation structures to attract top machine learning talent while aligning with our core values and principles. Developing career frameworks suitable for a research lab environment and creating feedback and evaluation processes to promote individual growth are also key responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a people leader or HR business partner in a high-growth technical setting, with fluency in North American employment law and best practices. A proven track record in developing HR practices and supporting diverse talent is essential. Preferred qualifications include over 10 years of experience in similar roles, expertise in establishing scalable systems in rapidly growing companies, coaching experience in providing confidential support and conflict resolution, and a history of fostering high-trust, low-ego environments that retain and develop top talent.
This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $190,000 to $300,000 USD, depending on background, skills, and experience.
