Immigration Attorney- Humanitarian
The United Firm is seeking an Associate Humanitarian Attorney to join its Immigration Team in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated attorney to gain valuable experience and advance their career within a premier law firm. The position involves managing a caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a team of attorneys and legal assistants.
Key responsibilities include explaining immigration concepts and presenting strategic solutions, representing non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals, managing a workload of U-Visa cases, conducting intakes with detained individuals at centers, preparing diverse immigration applications such as U-Visa and family-based immigration petitions, reviewing and adjusting immigration applications, collaborating with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law, meeting with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations, developing strategies and preparing clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony, providing legal analysis to determine possible case benefits, and preparing and submitting legal briefs for various immigration cases.
Candidates should have at least 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law, be team-oriented, and possess a record of advancing legal cases and managing a caseload. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required. Experience with humanitarian applications and case management software is also preferred.
