Infrastructure Engineer Intern 2026/27
The Infrastructure Engineer Intern role at Canva offers a 12-week, full-time program from early December 2026 to late February 2027, designed to provide meaningful experience and real ownership of projects. Interns will work within the Infrastructure Supergroup, which focuses on building foundational products to support Canva's growth by creating reliable, secure, and scalable services. This team aims to simplify complex technology, enabling engineers to innovate without additional concerns.
Interns will collaborate with their assigned teams to design, develop, test, and maintain projects, while also developing and maintaining documentation for software development processes, procedures, and guidelines. They will interact with a wide variety of stakeholders from both inside and outside their teams to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to develop their craft alongside some of the most talented engineers.
Eligible candidates should be currently enrolled and completing their studies between 2027 and mid-2028, based in Australia or New Zealand with working rights, and possess excellent computing and object-oriented programming fundamentals. Proficiency in coding with Python, Go, or Java is required, along with knowledge of cloud architecture concepts and/or Infrastructure-as-Code. Familiarity with version control concepts, such as Git, and different testing principles is also expected. A passion for learning and growth as a technologist, as well as excitement to explore AI tools to boost workflow, are essential.
Canva offers a flexible working environment with options to work from home, join in person at their flagship campus in Sydney, or a mix of both. Interns will receive mentorship from experienced team members, have the opportunity to work on impactful, real-life projects from start to finish, and have a budget to bring their own intern-led social events to life throughout the program. A campus week in Sydney is also included, allowing interns to meet their team in person and experience the Canva culture.
