Plusgrade is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in advancing our data platform. As a key member of the Data Engineering team, you will design and implement scalable, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines and platforms that support analytics, AI/ML initiatives, and customer-facing applications. This position offers the opportunity to lead technical projects, mentor intermediate engineers, and collaborate closely with Staff Engineers and Data Architects to drive architectural decisions and complex implementations.
In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable and resilient data pipelines for both batch and streaming systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate high-level architecture into actionable engineering solutions, promote best practices in data modeling and pipeline design, and implement automated monitoring and data quality frameworks. Additionally, you will guide the team in designing event-driven and real-time data flows, optimize existing data infrastructure for performance and cost efficiency, and mentor intermediate engineers to enhance team capabilities.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 5–7+ years of professional experience in data engineering. Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and at least one additional language (e.g., Java or Scala) is required. Deep expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and query optimization is essential. Hands-on experience with Snowflake, modern data warehouse concepts, orchestration frameworks like Airflow or Dagster, and real-time streaming architectures such as Kafka or Kinesis is highly desirable. Strong understanding of AWS data ecosystem components and experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation are also important.
