The Innovation Attorney – Legal Technology is a pivotal member of Latham & Watkins' Technology & Information Services team. This role involves acting as the product owner for designated legal technology platforms, overseeing their entire lifecycle from discovery and piloting to launch, adoption, and continuous optimization. The position is based in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, or Washington, D.C., with potential for a hybrid work schedule.

Key responsibilities include translating practice group and legal operations requirements into clear product specifications, user stories, and prioritization decisions. The Innovation Attorney will serve as the primary decision-maker on scope, sequencing, and trade-offs throughout the product lifecycle, balancing user needs, technical feasibility, vendor capabilities, and strategic value. Additionally, the role involves defining, tracking, and evaluating key performance indicators (KPIs), adoption metrics, and value realization to guide iteration and investment decisions.

Candidates should possess expertise in horizon scanning and market intelligence, with a strong understanding of legal technology categories and adjacent emerging technologies. Strong product management capabilities, including user personas, user stories, scoping, requirements documentation, roadmap planning, and user testing, are essential. Advanced strategic project management skills, including business case development, financial analysis, and return on investment (ROI) modeling, are also required. A Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a minimum of five years of experience supporting legal technology and innovation are necessary.
