Innovation Counsel - Litigation
Cooley LLP is seeking an Innovation Counsel to join its Practice Innovation team. This role focuses on advancing the firm's efforts to implement practice-specific initiatives that maximize the value of innovative technologies and practices. The position involves close collaboration with practice group leadership, resource attorneys, practice support lawyers, and the legal education and professional development teams to drive best practices in leveraging legal technology, positioning Cooley as a leader in this area.
Key responsibilities include providing attorney-level input on targeted legal technology adoption initiatives, designing playbooks to guide practice groups in implementing best practices, and organizing presentations, status reports, and executive briefings. The Innovation Counsel will also collaborate with various teams to prioritize requests and initiatives, develop objectives and success metrics for technology adoption, and analyze current operational workflows to identify areas for improvement.
The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate or equivalent, be an active member in good standing of the bar in relevant jurisdictions, and possess at least four years of direct applicable experience, such as legal practice or hands-on experience with legal technology adoption efforts. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage, and other firm applications is required, along with the ability to work extended hours and travel as needed. Experience in supporting cross-functional projects involving legal technology teams and an understanding of large law firm financial and work allocation processes are also essential.
Cooley offers a competitive compensation package, with an expected annual pay range of $225,000 to $285,000, depending on geographic location, experience, and skillset.
