Intellectual Property Counsel
Huntsman Corporation is seeking an Intellectual Property Counsel to join its Corporate Legal Division at the company's headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas. This role reports directly to the Intellectual Property Legal Leadership and is integral to safeguarding and leveraging Huntsman's intellectual property assets across various business divisions and functional departments.
The Intellectual Property Counsel will be responsible for drafting, filing, and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications. Additionally, the role involves drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on IP-related agreements and other legal documents. The counsel will assess third-party intellectual property risks, prepare freedom-to-operate opinions, evaluate potential infringements of Huntsman's IP rights, and support IP-related litigation and dispute resolution. Managing and coordinating with outside legal counsel as needed is also a key aspect of the position.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field, along with a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited university. A minimum of four years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution is required. Applicants must be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state with an active State Bar membership and be a registered Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters and prioritize effectively are essential.
