International FinTech Counsel
Toast is seeking an experienced International FinTech Counsel to join its Legal team, supporting the company's expansion of financial products and services into new international markets. This role involves providing transactional and regulatory legal support to various business partners worldwide, ensuring the development of compliant and innovative financial solutions for restaurants, their staff, and guests. The position reports to Toast’s Assistant General Counsel, FinTech.
Key responsibilities include advising cross-functional stakeholders on multi-national financial laws and regulations to facilitate the rapid expansion of Toast’s payments and banking products. The role also involves drafting and negotiating strategic partnership agreements and other commercial contracts with financial institutions, third-party service providers, card networks, and merchants. Additionally, the counsel will research and respond to legal and regulatory questions regarding various financial products across multiple jurisdictions and review advertising materials for compliance with applicable laws and best practices.
The ideal candidate holds a degree from an ABA-accredited law school or equivalent and meets all professional requirements to practice in-house law in their jurisdiction. They should have 5+ years of legal experience advising corporate clients on international financial products and services, with expertise in financial services regulations in one or more of the following locations: UK, Ireland, Canada, and/or Australia. Strong knowledge of financial laws and regulations across multiple international territories, experience in negotiating commercial agreements within the financial services industry, and the ability to manage multiple implementations simultaneously are essential.
