Junior Paralegal
Fora Financial is seeking a Junior Paralegal to join its Legal and Compliance Department in New York City. This role reports directly to the Legal Operations Manager and focuses on mitigating the company's risk exposure. The Junior Paralegal will play a crucial role in managing litigation and collections matters, contributing to the department's overall legal and compliance objectives.
Key responsibilities include supporting collection attorneys in resolving disputed accounts through effective communication and document management. The Junior Paralegal will track escalated collection accounts and litigation dockets, prepare and file pleadings, motions, and other court documents, and coordinate with internal and external litigation teams on case files, docketing, court filings, and discovery requests. Additionally, the role involves assisting with discovery requests, subpoenas, and other legal inquiries, as well as providing administrative support to the Legal department.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree and possesses 1 to 2 years of experience, preferably from a significant law firm, an in-house legal department, or as a collections paralegal in the financial services industry. Strong organizational skills, experience managing multiple accounts or litigations, and superior written and verbal communication abilities are essential. The candidate should be adept at handling evolving priorities in a dynamic environment and capable of building effective business partnerships.
