Lawyer, Pro Bono - Technology and Innovation
Gilbert + Tobin is seeking a lawyer to join its pro bono team for a 12-month full-time contract focused on integrating technology and artificial intelligence into legal service delivery. This role aims to enhance the quality and efficiency of pro bono services and develop tools to expand access to justice for clients and communities.
Key responsibilities include identifying and implementing AI and technology solutions to improve legal work, supporting the coordination and delivery of pro bono matters using technology, developing AI-enabled resources and guides for lawyers, designing tools and services that provide legal assistance directly to clients, collaborating with community legal centers to support their use of technology, ensuring the responsible and ethical use of AI, staying updated with developments in AI and legal technology, delivering training to support capability across the team and community partners, and contributing to thought leadership on technology and access to justice.
The ideal candidate will have two to five years of post-qualification experience, fluency in AI concepts, experience applying AI or other technologies in legal work, a strong understanding of developments in AI, the ability to apply technology in a practical and user-focused way, a practical understanding of process change and continuous improvement, awareness of ethical considerations in using AI in legal services, strong analytical, communication, and drafting skills, a commitment to social justice and pro bono work, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
