Lead Software Development Engineer, Full Stack
PitchBook Data, a Morningstar company, is seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer, Full Stack, to join their Frontier Data Platform team in Seattle, Washington. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining systems that process and deliver vast amounts of data across PitchBook's customer-facing products. The position offers a unique opportunity to lead a small, high-ownership engineering team while contributing to the development of cutting-edge data solutions.
As a Lead Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, and leading the design and implementation of new platform capabilities. Your daily tasks will include writing production-grade backend code, developing services, pipelines, and APIs, and ensuring the technical quality of the team's output through code reviews and architectural decisions. Collaboration with product managers and partner teams will be essential to align on requirements and technical direction.
Ideal candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, with over seven years of experience in backend software engineering, primarily using Java in large-scale production systems. Proficiency in distributed data pipelines and streaming systems, such as Kafka, is required, along with strong hands-on experience with Elasticsearch. Additional qualifications include expertise in PostgreSQL or other relational databases, experience with large-scale data ingestion and transformation systems, and familiarity with cloud technologies like AWS and Kubernetes.
Compensation for this role ranges from $190,000 to $240,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
