Legal Assistant
The Community Resource Center (CRC) is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our dedicated immigration legal team. This role involves supporting attorneys and DOJ-accredited representatives in delivering high-quality legal services to immigrant families. The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of CRC's legal unit, contributing to the organization's mission of empowering immigrant and low-income families to become self-reliant and thriving members of the community.
Key responsibilities include implementing intake and assessment procedures, conducting client interviews, and preparing intake assessments for attorney review. The Legal Assistant will manage both physical and digital client files, ensuring they are complete and up to date. Additional duties involve scanning and organizing documents, maintaining accurate case statuses, and following up with clients for necessary information. Regular client communication is essential, including responding to inquiries, providing case updates, and coordinating meetings.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and document preparation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required, along with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality are essential. Strong interpersonal skills and cultural competency are important, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Experience in a nonprofit or community-based setting is preferred, and bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, are advantageous but not mandatory.
The position offers a salary range of $45,000 to $55,000 annually and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
