Legal Assistant
Morgan & Morgan, a leading personal injury law firm dedicated to protecting the people, not the powerful, is seeking a qualified Legal Assistant to join their team in Washington, D.C. This role is integral to the firm's mission of providing accessible legal services to individuals across the United States.
As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for managing the law firm's day-to-day operations, including performing administrative duties such as scheduling hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics. You will also maintain pleadings and discovery indexes, organize exhibits and legal documents, and implement administrative processes to enhance workflow efficiency. Additionally, you will collect, examine, and organize evidence for attorney review and case preparation, draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, and conduct research to assist with the preparation of reports and legal advice. Managing client billing and maintaining communication with clients and witnesses are also key aspects of this role.
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, Bachelor’s Degree, or a Paralegal Certificate. Experience in Workers Compensation, Personal Injury, Premises, First Party, or other injury-related practice areas is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of experience as an Administrative Assistant, preferably in a law firm setting or corporate legal department, is required. Strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $24.52 to $28.85 USD. Full-time employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and paid holidays.
