Legal Assistant
Morgan & Morgan is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. As a Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in managing the firm's daily operations, providing essential support to our legal team, and ensuring efficient workflow within a fast-paced environment.
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include performing administrative duties such as scheduling hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics. You will maintain pleadings and discovery indexes, organize exhibits and legal documents, and draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents like pleadings and contracts. Additionally, you will collect and organize evidence for attorney review, research regulations and laws to assist with case preparation, and manage client billing processes.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for those holding an associate degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor's degree. A minimum of one year of experience as an administrative assistant, legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal is required. Experience in practice areas such as Social Security, Personal Injury, Workers Compensation, or Premises Liability is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with a typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
