Legal Counsel and Negotiator
The Health Employers Association of British Columbia (HEABC) is seeking a Legal Counsel and Negotiator to join their team in Vancouver, BC. HEABC coordinates the human resource and labour relations interests of over 230 publicly funded health care employers in the province, representing a diverse range of health organizations and authorities. As the accredited bargaining agent for most publicly funded health employers, HEABC plays a pivotal role in negotiating agreements that impact a significant portion of the healthcare workforce in BC.
In this role, the Legal Counsel and Negotiator will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation in collective bargaining processes, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The position involves drafting and reviewing legal documents, negotiating terms and conditions of employment, and resolving disputes that may arise between employers and employees. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including union representatives, government agencies, and healthcare employers, to facilitate effective negotiations and maintain harmonious labour relations.
Candidates should possess a law degree and be a member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia. A minimum of five years of experience in labour and employment law, particularly within the healthcare sector, is preferred. Strong negotiation skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of collective bargaining processes are essential. Experience in dispute resolution and a commitment to promoting fair and equitable labour practices will be advantageous.
