Alpaca is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its European team, reporting to the Vice President. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of legal and regulatory matters in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

The Legal Counsel will provide day-to-day legal advice to internal stakeholders on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters. Responsibilities include advising on the design and rollout of new products and services, reviewing and negotiating customer-facing contractual agreements, and assisting with regulatory inquiries from UK and EU authorities. The role also involves liaising with external legal advisers and ensuring compliance with applicable conduct of business rules.

The ideal candidate is a qualified solicitor or barrister with 3-5+ years of experience at a law firm, financial institution, regulatory agency, exchange, broker-dealer, or technology company. A strong academic background, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to outline complex matters concisely are essential. The candidate should demonstrate excellent judgment, analytical rigor, and a practical, solution-oriented mindset with strong business judgment. Comfort working with cross-functional, globally distributed teams and an interest in fintech, digital assets, and blockchain technology are also important.
