The Health Employers Association of British Columbia (HEABC) is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their team in Vancouver, BC. This role involves providing legal guidance on a variety of matters, including labour relations, employment law, and health sector regulations. The Legal Counsel will work closely with member organizations, health sector unions, and external agencies to support HEABC's mission of contributing to the growth and sustainability of the BC health care system.

Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements, providing legal advice on corporate governance, intellectual property, and employment law, conducting legal research to support decision-making processes, managing litigation, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. The Legal Counsel will also develop and implement risk management strategies, represent the organization in legal proceedings and negotiations, and advise senior management on legal risks and opportunities.

Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and be a member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia. A minimum of seven years of recent, related experience in labour and employment law, labour relations, or human resources within a complex labour relations environment is preferred. Strong knowledge of corporate and commercial law, regulatory compliance, and risk management is essential. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a proven track record in managing complex legal issues are also required.

HEABC offers a competitive salary ranging from $106,026 to $152,413 per year, with a typical hiring range of $106,026 to $132,533. Additional benefits include four weeks of vacation earned in the first year of employment, 13 statutory holidays, comprehensive health and dental benefits with immediate coverage, and a pension plan through BC's Municipal Pension Plan.
