Legal Counsel (Payment)
Hyphen Connect is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its team, focusing on payment-related legal matters. The company is Asia's leading web3 venture studio, operating within the rapidly evolving blockchain and cryptocurrency industry. The Legal Counsel will serve as the sole in-house lawyer, providing legal advice to executives and the management team. Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal contracts and agreements, developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures aligned with crypto industry regulations, and identifying potential legal risks to the organization. Additionally, the role involves investigating and responding to complaints regarding alleged violations of rules, policies, and procedures, and staying updated with changes in laws that impact the company.
Candidates should hold a law degree (LLB or J.D.) and be qualified in a major common law jurisdiction. A minimum of 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in a reputable international or top local law firm is required. Experience in advising on products and related legal and regulatory matters, a strong understanding of payments regulation, fund flows, and licensing frameworks, and proficiency in payment, fintech, EMI/PSP, or financial services compliance or regulatory advisory are essential. The ideal candidate will possess sound judgment on business practices, internal and external stakeholder relationship management, and reputational risk, and be business-driven with the capability to facilitate business by providing solutions. Business proficiency in spoken and written English and Mandarin is also required. Experience in multi-jurisdiction environments is a strong plus.
