Ropes & Gray, a leading global law firm, is seeking a Legal Project Management Innovation Data Scientist to join their Client Operations & Legal Project Management team. This team operates at the intersection of process improvement, technology, data analysis, client service, and legal practice, aiming to enhance client relationships and optimize legal service delivery. The Data Scientist will leverage advanced data analysis and AI methodologies to provide actionable insights, supporting decision-making and driving innovation within the firm.

In this role, the Data Scientist will develop and maintain data resources and dashboards to help leadership, lawyers, and clients understand the cost and scope of legal work. They will translate data-driven insights into recommendations that support business strategies and objectives, addressing business challenges through the development of algorithms, analytical models, AI, and machine learning using data from various firm sources. Additionally, they will apply statistical techniques to identify trends, patterns, and relationships within the data, develop predictive models using machine learning algorithms, and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders using visually compelling charts, graphs, and dashboards.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, J.D., or MBA preferred. A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, financial institution, or other large complex organization is required, with law firm experience preferred. Technical skills should include Python, SQL, and data visualization tools such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, and Power BI; machine learning, statistics, and data modeling; and experience with NLP/LLM. Exceptional client service orientation, financial acumen, and demonstrated experience in data analysis, AI impact assessment, and creative problem-solving are essential. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality and build collaborative relationships across various departments and levels of the organization is crucial.

The compensation for this role ranges from $134,700 to $222,350 annually, with eligibility for a discretionary bonus based on performance.
