Legal Secretary
Jackson Lewis P.C., a prominent law firm specializing in employment and labor law since 1958, is seeking a Legal Secretary to join its Detroit office. This role involves supporting multiple labor and employment litigation attorneys by providing comprehensive legal and administrative assistance. The Legal Secretary will be responsible for drafting and revising correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents; managing electronic filings; conducting legal research; and maintaining attorney calendars. Additional duties include handling attorney expenses, processing invoices, arranging travel, and performing various office and client filing tasks. The role requires excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail, particularly in preparing documents with advanced formatting such as Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities.
Candidates should have at least three years of recent experience as a litigation secretary in a law firm setting, with a solid understanding of legal terminology and electronic court filing procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines, and a proactive approach to workload management are also required. A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory, while a four-year college degree is preferred.
