Litigation Assistant
Morgan & Morgan, a leading personal injury law firm dedicated to protecting the people, not the powerful, is seeking a qualified Litigation Assistant to join their team in Hilton Head, South Carolina. This role involves working closely with a lead attorney and litigation paralegal to manage the firm's day-to-day operations, including administrative services and support for the legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key responsibilities include performing administrative duties such as scheduling hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics. The Litigation Assistant will also maintain pleadings and discovery indexes, organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices, and implement and improve administrative processes for more efficient workflow. Additional tasks involve collecting, examining, and organizing evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation, drafting and proofreading correspondence and legal documents, researching regulations and laws to assist with the preparation of reports and case files, managing client billing, and communicating with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, Bachelor’s Degree, or a Paralegal Certificate preferred. At least two years of experience as an Administrative Assistant, preferably in a law firm setting or corporate legal department, is required. The role demands strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in calendar management, depositions, mediation, and hearings is essential, along with knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures. Experience in Personal Injury, Workers Compensation, Premises, First Party, or other injury-related practice areas is preferred.
