Machine Learning Engineer Intern 2026/27
Canva is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer Intern for the 2026/27 program, a 12-week, remote-friendly internship running from early December to late February. Interns will work on impactful, real-life projects from day one, supported by a dedicated Host and Buddy to guide their journey. The program offers flexibility, allowing interns to work from home or join in person at Canva's flagship campus in Sydney, Australia, or other co-working spaces across Australia and New Zealand.
Interns will collaborate with their assigned teams to design, develop, test, and maintain their projects. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining documentation for software development processes and interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. This role provides an opportunity to develop technical skills alongside experienced engineers.
Eligible candidates are those currently enrolled and completing their studies between 2027 and mid-2028, based in Australia or New Zealand with full working rights. Applicants should have excellent computing and object-oriented programming fundamentals, be comfortable working in Python, and possess the ability to conceive and translate statistical or machine learning models into practical, scalable solutions. A passion for learning and growth as a technologist, along with an interest in exploring AI tools to enhance workflow, is essential. Commitment to the full 12-week program is required.
