Manager, Service Reliability Engineer
The Manager, Service Reliability Engineering position at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is a leadership role within the Gaming, Developer, & Future Technology Group (GDFT). This team is at the forefront of the cloud gaming revolution, delivering console-quality video games across various devices, including TVs, consoles, and mobile platforms. The Service Reliability Engineering team plays a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless cloud gaming experience by influencing design and operational decisions to maintain the stability of gaming services.
In this role, the manager will build and oversee a team of engineers operating across multiple time zones, dedicated to analyzing and maintaining service stability in a 24/7/365 environment. Responsibilities include managing the health, uptime, and reliability of networks, servers, storage, and related infrastructure. The manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to negotiate requirements, specifications, schedules, and technical acceptance criteria, as well as develop innovative technical solutions that meet GDFT's needs concerning functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, along with proven experience managing operations in a 24/7 global infrastructure. A strong background in internet service deployments and a deep understanding of Linux and internet technologies are essential. The role requires excellent project management skills, the ability to perform technical deep dives into code, networking, systems, and storage, and demonstrated experience in large-scale Linux system troubleshooting and maintenance practices. Willingness to travel to domestic and international data centers and office locations is also necessary.
The estimated base pay range for this role is $184,600 to $277,000 USD.
