Manager, Software Engineering DevEx
The Manager, Software Engineering DevEx role at PlayStation Global involves leading a high-impact team within the Client Developer Experience (DevEx) division. This position is central to how developers build, test, and ship software across client and system software teams, focusing on developing modern developer platforms and tools, including documentation systems, intelligent search, performance tooling, and AI-powered experiences.
Key responsibilities include leading, growing, and mentoring a team of engineers to build a high-performing, ownership-driven culture. The role requires driving the delivery of developer platforms and tools used across PlayStation, providing technical leadership at both code and system design levels, especially for frontend and developer-facing systems. Additionally, the manager will guide the design and evolution of complex, scalable systems across frontend, backend, and platform layers, and partner with AI/ML, Quality Engineering, System Software, and Product teams to align on priorities and execution.
The ideal candidate will have 7–10 years of overall software engineering experience, with 3–5+ years managing engineering teams. A strong technical background with hands-on understanding of frontend systems (JavaScript, React, React Native) and solid backend/platform fundamentals is essential. The ability to operate at code-level depth when needed, proven experience designing and delivering complex, distributed systems, and a track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams are also required. Excellent communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences are necessary.
The position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $201,400 to $302,000 USD, along with a top-tier benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), paid time off, wellness programs, and coveted employee discounts for Sony products.
