Mandamus Immigration Attorney
The United Firm is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney specializing in Mandamus actions and federal litigation. This remote position involves representing clients whose immigration applications have been unreasonably delayed by USCIS or other government agencies. The role requires excellent research, writing, and advocacy skills, along with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment. As an Associate Attorney, you will report to the Managing Immigration Attorney and collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants.
Key responsibilities include handling federal court litigation, focusing on Writs of Mandamus and Administrative Procedure Act (APA) lawsuits. You will represent both non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals. Additional duties involve preparing diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions, and reviewing immigration applications to make necessary adjustments. You will also engage with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law, and provide strategic consultations to potential clients.
The ideal candidate should have at least 3-5 years of experience in Immigration Law, with a minimum of 2 years handling Mandamus and APA litigation. A team-oriented approach is essential, as well as strong interpersonal skills. Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications is preferred. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous but not required. Familiarity with case management software is also preferred.
