Mechanical Design Engineer
Intrinsic, an AI robotics group at Google, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Lab Infrastructure team in Mountain View, California. The company focuses on reimagining industrial robotics by integrating AI, perception, and simulation to enhance automation capabilities. As part of this innovative team, the Mechanical Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing robotic automation systems, emphasizing custom End-of-Arm Tooling and intelligent automation solutions.
In this role, the engineer will be responsible for designing and building robotic automation systems from initial concept through implementation. Key duties include translating project requirements into detailed designs, creating efficient and scalable automation solutions, performing structural analysis, reviewing designs, and procuring components. Collaboration with research groups and industry partners is essential to execute physical builds and automation solutions effectively.
Candidates should possess a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with 2 to 4 years of professional experience. Hands-on design expertise in custom End-of-Arm tooling development and implementing robotic automation systems is required. Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, preferably Autodesk Inventor with PDM/PLM systems and AutoCAD, is essential. A solid understanding of design principles, Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA), and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) is necessary. The role demands a proactive approach to working in ambiguous situations, strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, external integrators, and customers.
The base salary for this full-time position ranges from $126,400 to $172,200 USD annually, complemented by a 15% bonus, equity, and benefits. Specific salary details will be discussed during the hiring process.
