As a Mechanical Engineer at Formlabs, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to developing cutting-edge 3D printing technology. Formlabs is a leader in the 3D printing industry, providing innovative solutions to a diverse range of clients, including major companies like Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and creation of precision tools that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

In this position, your primary responsibilities will include prototyping new mechanisms, testing materials, and researching challenges associated with 3D printing. You will analyze, test, validate, and iterate on electro-mechanical systems, create detailed designs in CAD, and produce accurate drawings. Collaboration with global sourcing and manufacturing teams will be essential to transition designs from prototype to mass production, all while striving to maximize customer value and push the capabilities of 3D printing technology.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in part design, material selection, and various manufacturing techniques such as injection molding and sheet metal fabrication. Proficiency in 3D CAD software like SolidWorks or Onshape is required, along with the ability to prototype designs in a well-equipped shop. Experience with the full product development cycle and effective communication with vendors and suppliers worldwide are also important. Hands-on problem-solving skills and a willingness to cross discipline boundaries are essential for success in this role.

Formlabs offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a robust equity program through RSUs, comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, vision), 401K matching with access to financial advisors, generous paid parental leave (up to 16 weeks), tenure-based paid sabbatical leave (up to 6 weeks), and a flexible out-of-office plan. Additional perks include ample on-site parking, pre-tax commuter benefits, healthy on-site lunches, snacks, beverages, and treats, regular sponsored professional development opportunities, and unlimited 3D prints.

Joining Formlabs means becoming part of a team of hands-on builders, engineers, and innovators who are reinventing how the world makes physical things. The company fosters a collaborative and inclusive culture, offering numerous opportunities for professional growth and development. If you're ready to shape the future of fabrication and work on products that make a real impact, Formlabs is the place for you.
