Mechatronics Engineer
Voyager Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to join their team in Pueblo, Colorado. As a leading company in space, defense, and national security technology, Voyager is dedicated to delivering transformative, mission-critical solutions. The Mechatronics Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, integrating, commissioning, and sustaining mechatronic systems that span mechanical, electrical, and software domains, specifically supporting solid rocket motor production and energetic materials manufacturing at Voyager Energetics.
In this role, the Mechatronics Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and commissioning mechatronic systems, including robotic handling, custom end-effectors, motion control, sensor integration, and electromechanical assemblies. They will maintain, troubleshoot, and continuously improve existing automated systems across the production floor to maximize uptime, process reliability, and throughput. The engineer will also integrate hardware components—such as robots, actuators, sensors, and PLCs—with software control layers and data pipelines, develop and execute system validation plans, and author and maintain engineering documentation in accordance with program and compliance requirements. Additionally, they will identify and implement process improvements to reduce cycle time, error rates, and manual intervention across manufacturing operations.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, with at least 3 years of experience in mechatronics, automation, or a related field. Alternatively, a Master's degree in a relevant field with 1 year of experience or 7 years of hands-on mechatronics and automation experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable. Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, building, and commissioning mechatronic systems—including robotics, motion control, sensors, and electromechanical integration—is essential. Experience integrating hardware across multiple subsystems, including PLCs, sensors, actuators, and software control layers, is required. A general programming aptitude with the ability to read, modify, and write control or scripting code (Python, C#, C++, or equivalent) is necessary. Experience working in at least one regulated industry (aerospace, defense, chemical, or similar) with a demonstrated commitment to safety culture and the ability to operate within rigorous regulatory environments, including OSHA and ITAR, is important. Strong documentation habits and excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required.
The compensation for this role ranges from $90,000 to $115,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Voyager Technologies offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, and flexible time off to support work-life balance. Employees also have access to wellness programs and additional voluntary benefits.
