Member of Technical Staff - VLM
Black Forest Labs is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to join our team in Freiburg, Germany. As pioneers behind technologies like Latent Diffusion, Stable Diffusion, and FLUX, we are dedicated to advancing generative AI models that empower creators and businesses worldwide. This role focuses on integrating vision-language models (VLMs) directly into our FLUX platform to enhance model performance and controllability.
In this position, you will lead the development and training of state-of-the-art multimodal vision-language models within the FLUX stack. Your responsibilities include designing fine-tuning strategies tailored to specialized creative applications such as captioning and prompt enhancement. Additionally, you will research and implement integrations between VLM/LLM capabilities and our diffusion and flow pipelines to improve generation quality without introducing computational bottlenecks.
The ideal candidate has experience in pretraining or significantly advancing VLMs that have been deployed in production or released publicly. A strong publication record or demonstrable production experience in pushing the boundaries of multimodal architectures is essential. Deep understanding of vision and language representation interactions, experience with distributed training at multi-node scale, and familiarity with diffusion or flow-based generative models are highly desirable.
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a base annual salary ranging from $180,000 to $300,000 USD, along with equity options. Our hybrid work model supports flexibility, with expectations for meaningful in-person presence in our Freiburg or San Francisco offices, and we cover reasonable travel costs to facilitate this.
