Meteorologist (Shift Wed-Sat, 2pm-12am CT)
AlertMedia is seeking a Meteorologist to join our Global Intelligence Team, working Wednesday through Saturday from 2pm to 12am CT. In this role, you will play a critical part in providing timely and accurate information regarding major global weather events and natural disasters, as well as their impacts on employee safety and business continuity. AlertMedia is a rapidly growing software company dedicated to keeping people safe and informed during critical events.
As a Meteorologist, you will utilize weather forecasting tools and services to identify weather events that could impact our global clients. You will communicate critical weather information effectively and with urgency to customers, providing initial alerts and updated information as necessary. This includes daily regional weather forecasting around the globe, as well as major events such as hurricanes, wildfires, and winter storms. Additionally, you will partner with Global Intelligence Analysts to direct their information gathering on forecasted weather events and natural disasters, and leverage social media and other sources to surface and alert on impacts resulting from these events.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science and 2-4 years of experience in meteorology and forecasting. Strong forecasting skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts effectively. You should be able to multitask effectively with strong attention to detail and have an understanding of weather forecasting tools and systems, comfortable evaluating weather data for various international locations. The ability to work under stressful situations in a fast-paced environment with critical timelines is crucial, as is the ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate and collaborate with others. As a key player in a 24/7 team, this role requires shift flexibility, with scheduled shifts falling between Wednesday and Saturday, 2pm-12am CT.
