Network Engineer
Helsing is a defense AI company dedicated to protecting democracies through technological leadership. We are seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage critical network infrastructure within our high-security data centers, which are essential to our operations. This role is integral to ensuring the stability and security of our mission-critical systems.
As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and supporting data center co-locations from the ground up. Your duties will include installing and maintaining network hardware such as switches, routers, and firewalls using infrastructure as code (IaC) methodologies. You will also design and deploy network solutions for GPU clusters and operate within complex, high-security environments, ensuring strict compliance with all security protocols and best practices. Troubleshooting complex network issues to maintain seamless operations will be a key part of your day-to-day work.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing, building, and supporting complex physical and software network infrastructure. A good understanding of Linux system administration is essential. Expertise in automating network infrastructure with an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) mindset, using tools like Terraform and Ansible, is highly valued. Hands-on experience with major network device vendors such as Cisco and Palo Alto is required. Additionally, a strong command of protocols including TCP/IP, TLS, DHCP, DNS, OSPF, and BGP is necessary.
We offer competitive compensation and stock options, along with relocation support. Employees benefit from social and education allowances, as well as regular company events to foster team cohesion. Our hands-on onboarding program, affectionately labeled "Infraduction," provides new hires with the opportunity to build tooling and applications used across the company, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of our tech stack and operations.
At Helsing, we operate in a domain with unique technical requirements and constraints, where robustness, safety, and ethical considerations are vital. Our work frequently takes us to the forefront of technical innovation, including areas like reinforcement learning, distributed systems, and generative AI. We actively encourage healthy, proactive, and diverse debate internally about our work and how we choose to do it. Teams and individual engineers are trusted to practice responsible autonomy and critical thinking, focusing on outcomes rather than conformity.
