The Operations Partner role at Bird in Edmonton is a pivotal position within the company's logistics team, focusing on the management and maintenance of the local fleet of e-scooters and e-bikes. As an independent contractor, you will oversee the daily operations to ensure that vehicles are charged, safe, and strategically placed to meet the transportation needs of the Edmonton community. This role offers flexibility and scalability, allowing individuals or logistics businesses to tailor their operations based on capacity and resources.

Your primary responsibilities will include the collection, deployment, relocation, and retrieval of e-scooters and e-bikes across Edmonton. You can choose between two operational models:

- **Retrieve & Charge (Highest Margin):** Collect vehicles, charge them at your own secured facility, and deploy them the next morning.

- **Retrieve & Drop-off:** Collect vehicles and transport them to the local Bird warehouse for charging.

Additionally, you will manage the end-to-end operation of your assigned portfolio, ensuring vehicles are available in high-demand areas, perform light field checks to maintain vehicle safety and environmental standards, and address real-time challenges by prioritizing tasks and navigating Edmonton's local geography efficiently.

To qualify for this role, you must own or have consistent access to at least one large vehicle (van/truck) suitable for transporting multiple scooters/bikes. Access to a garage, warehouse, or commercial facility with electricity is highly preferred, as it allows for overnight charging and maximizes earnings. A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or applicable commercial license) with a clean driving record is required. The role demands physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and a flexible schedule with a willingness to operate regularly on weekends. Comfort with learning new mobile tools to manage the fleet and strong knowledge of Edmonton's local geography are also essential.

This is a pay-per-task role where compensation is directly tied to productivity. With an estimated daily volume of 1,000+ vehicles, the earning potential averages $30+ per hour, with opportunities to earn more based on efficiency and performance. As an independent contractor, you are responsible for your own tools, equipment, and any associated expenses required to complete your work. You have the flexibility to manage your own schedule and workload to meet the operational needs of Bird.

Bird is committed to building more livable cities by providing sustainable transportation options. By joining the team, you contribute to a mission that emphasizes freedom, exploration, community, and sustainability. Every ride you facilitate helps reduce carbon emissions and promotes cleaner, safer streets in Edmonton.
