Payroll Risk & Compliance Principal - Nordics
The Payroll Risk & Compliance Principal for the Nordics at Remote is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing payroll compliance across Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. This position requires an active Norwegian State Authorised Accountant certification and involves statutory accountability for Norwegian payroll assignments. The role demands a deep understanding of Nordic payroll legislation, including A-melding reporting, NAV processes, pension administration, and Altinn.no workflows. The principal will work closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Legal, and Operations teams to integrate compliance into Remote’s payroll platform from the outset.
Key responsibilities include embedding Nordic legislation into product logic, systems, and governance frameworks, translating complex legal requirements into scalable operational and technical designs, leading audits, investigations, and regulatory readiness across the region, and mentoring to enhance compliance capabilities within the organization. The role also involves shaping product logic and automation frameworks that scale globally, building thought leadership through documentation and industry engagement, and developing future compliance leaders through structured coaching programs.
Candidates must possess an active Autorisert Regnskapsfører license, deep Norwegian payroll expertise, and a working knowledge of payroll and employment compliance in Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. The ideal candidate should be able to convert statutory rules into structured, build-ready product requirements, have experience leading audits and regulatory reviews, and be capable of translating complex regulatory requirements into clear guidance for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong automation and AI capabilities are also essential.
