This role involves leading the development of asset-level forecasts and providing strategic insights into renewable, thermal, and transmission assets within North American power markets. As a subject matter expert, the analyst will shape modeling methodologies and technical standards to advance Yes Energy's data platform.

The Principal Analyst will be responsible for building and maintaining forecasts of the North American electric grid using proprietary tools and procedures. They will monitor trends in renewable energy, battery storage, energy policy, and the retirement of conventional generation. The role also includes automating data ingestion and analysis, benchmarking model accuracy, and analyzing external power grid data across various metrics. Additionally, the analyst will collaborate with clients to explain market models and scenarios, ensuring models evolve with changing market fundamentals.

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related quantitative field, with strong data analysis skills using Python, R, or similar languages. A foundational understanding of North American power market fundamentals and regulatory trends is essential. Knowledge of optimization modeling and microeconomics, along with basic finance concepts like net present value calculations, is required. Excellent communication skills are necessary to convey complex findings to diverse teams.

The compensation for this position ranges from $135,000 to $160,000 annually. The role is full-time and hybrid, requiring two days in the office per week. Occasional travel may be necessary for client or team collaboration.
