Principal Scientist, Vector Biology
Legend Biotech is seeking a Principal Scientist to join the Vector Biology Upstream team in Philadelphia, focusing on early process development and establishing a manufacturable lentiviral vector (LVV) platform to support in-vivo CAR-T programs. This role is integral to the company's mission of developing advanced cell therapies for life-threatening diseases.
The Principal Scientist will lead the early-stage definition, interrogation, and optimization of upstream LVV processes, from molecular construct design through scalable bioreactor manufacturing. Responsibilities include establishing and optimizing seed train strategies, evaluating LVV constructs, designing production workflows, conducting media optimization, and collaborating with downstream colleagues to ensure a cohesive, end-to-end manufacturable process.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience in viral vector process development. Expertise in molecular biology, bioprocess engineering, and scalable bioreactor manufacturing is essential. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience in cross-functional collaboration are also required.
