Product Designer

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Character.AI is building the future of open-ended interactions between people and intelligent agents. This requires rethinking design, user interfaces, and interactions from first principles. 

We are seeking a talented and creative Product Designer to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of our AI entertainment products. As a Product Designer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design innovative, user-centered solutions that delight and inspire our customers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of user-centric design, a strong portfolio showcasing their craft, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of what's possible with AI.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

- Contribute to the strategic direction of our products, rooted in a desire to entertain and delight our users

- Define feature areas with excellent attention to detail and polish, identifying opportunities to improve quality and consistency of broader flows

- Craft beautiful, polished, and delightful user interfaces that build trust and showcase the power of our AI technology

- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, AI researchers and other stakeholders to define product vision, strategy and roadmaps

- Rapidly prototype ideas using code and other methods to communicate concepts and build excitement

- Find creative ways to ship high-quality work in a fast-paced, often ambiguous, resource-constrained startup environment

YOU MAY BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU HAVE:

- 8+ years of product design experience (experience designing complex workflows, consumer apps, social apps, or AI-first products preferred)

- Strong portfolio showcasing user-centric design thinking, polished UI craftsmanship, and innovative interaction paradigms

- Proven track record of executing end-to-end on large and complex products or a series of products in ambiguous environments
