Project Manager - Railroad Civil Track Design
Benesch is seeking a Project Manager to join its expanding Civil Track team within the national Railroad Division. This team specializes in complex rail infrastructure projects, including mainline and corridor track improvements, rail yard and terminal expansions, siding extensions, industrial track programs, and design-build initiatives that enhance rail networks nationwide. The role offers an opportunity to lead multidisciplinary rail projects and contribute to the growth of Benesch's rail presence.
The Project Manager will oversee railroad track design and infrastructure projects from planning through design and into construction support. Responsibilities include managing scope, schedule, and budget to ensure high-quality delivery. The role also involves building client relationships, identifying opportunities, supporting proposal development, collaborating with Project Managers and Group Leaders across the Railroad Division, mentoring engineering staff, and representing Benesch at industry events and client meetings.
Candidates must be licensed Professional Engineers with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and at least 12 years of industry experience, including a minimum of 8 years focused on rail track design. Proficiency with MicroStation and Inroads or OpenRoads or OpenRail is required. Experience in managing complex projects, strong client-facing skills with established industry relationships, and a demonstrated ability to lead technical staff and review engineering drawings are essential.
The position offers hybrid flexibility in offices located in Omaha, NE; Milwaukee, WI; Chicago, IL; Naperville, IL; Charlotte, NC; and Raleigh, NC. Fully remote arrangements may be considered for highly experienced candidates, though in-office collaboration is preferred when managing direct team members. The compensation range for this role is $110,000 to $180,000 USD annually, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes insurance, retirement plans, and wellness programs.
