Capital on Tap is a financial technology company dedicated to simplifying financial operations for small businesses. Established in 2012, the company has expanded its services to include a business credit card, spend management platform, and a savings product, all designed to streamline business processes. With over 200,000 customers and more than £20 billion in annual card spend, Capital on Tap continues to grow and innovate in the fintech sector.

The Risk & Compliance team at Capital on Tap serves as the second line of defense, ensuring that the company adheres to regulatory standards while supporting business growth. As a Risk & Compliance Assurance Manager, you will lead the development and execution of the compliance monitoring plan, coordinate with other second-line teams, and independently assess the effectiveness of risk management and compliance controls. This role involves providing oversight, challenge, and governance to ensure that controls are functioning as intended, thereby instilling confidence in the Risk Committee, regulators, and partner banks.

Key responsibilities include designing a risk-based monitoring plan, conducting thematic reviews and control tests focusing on risk and regulatory compliance, and coordinating monitoring efforts across UK and US compliance teams. You will also be responsible for tracking and ensuring the closure of monitoring actions, reporting findings to the Risk Committee and senior leadership, and quality-assuring reviews conducted by other areas. Additionally, the role involves providing pragmatic, business-minded challenges to help the first line improve controls.

Ideal candidates should have hands-on experience in owning or running a compliance monitoring or independent assurance program within a UK FCA-regulated firm, with a proven ability to design and execute reviews end-to-end. A solid understanding of FCA SYSC and the EMD/PSD regime is essential. Experience in designing thematic reviews and control tests, along with strong analytical and written communication skills, is also required. Confidence in presenting findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders and partner banks is crucial.

This is a hybrid role based in London, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. Capital on Tap offers a dynamic and vibrant culture with opportunities for growth and development. Employees benefit from health and wellness programs, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a 401k with company match. Additional perks include 20 days of paid time off, enhanced paid holidays, and a learning budget to support professional development.
