SoFi, a next-generation financial services company and national bank, is seeking a Risk Data AI/ML Engineer to join their Risk Data Team in Frisco, TX. This role involves leading technical efforts in building and maintaining data systems that support risk decision-making across the organization. The position requires a blend of deep production data engineering expertise and formal technical and people leadership.

As a Risk Data AI/ML Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead for the Risk Data Engineering team, owning architectural decisions and data modeling strategy across the Risk domain. Your responsibilities will include defining naming conventions, modeling standards, and layered dbt architecture (staging → intermediate → marts). You will design and build production-grade Snowflake data models, develop scalable dbt projects, and manage Apache Airflow DAGs, ensuring idempotency, retry logic, and failure handling. Implementing CI/CD best practices for dbt and data pipelines, driving automation initiatives to reduce manual operational overhead, and maintaining scalable, secure data systems aligned with enterprise governance standards will also be key aspects of your role.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, with over 8 years of hands-on data engineering experience and at least 2 years serving as a tech lead or leading engineers formally. Deep expertise in dimensional and relational data modeling, including SCD strategies and grain design, advanced dbt experience, and strong hands-on Snowflake experience are essential. Proficiency in managing Apache Airflow DAGs, advanced SQL skills, and strong Python skills for data pipeline development and automation are also required. Experience working in regulated or high-accuracy environments and participating in hiring, onboarding, and performance management will be advantageous.

Compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $124,800 to $234,000 per year, with the final offer determined based on individual factors such as experience, skills, and location.
