Senior AI Platform Engineer
Klaviyo is seeking a Senior AI Platform Engineer to join our team in Boston. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and scaling the backend systems that power our AI products and agent solutions. This position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems, collaborating closely with product managers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists to deliver impactful solutions at scale.
As a Senior AI Platform Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include designing and building backend systems to scale AI solutions for our extensive customer base. You will contribute to our agentic architecture to support high-performance AI agents and develop tools to tune LLM-based features, deploy agents, and evaluate performance using technologies such as Arize, OpenAI, Bedrock, LangChain, vLLM, and Ray. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing reliable, scalable data pipelines and APIs for AI systems, fostering a culture of ownership, experimentation, and customer-first thinking.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience as a backend software engineer, with a strong background in building scalable, distributed systems. Experience working in production environments and launching machine learning or AI projects is essential. Hands-on experience with generative AI and agentic AI applications in production is highly desirable. Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages is required, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical partners. A curious, proactive, and eager-to-learn attitude is also important.
Klaviyo offers a competitive base salary ranging from $148,000 to $222,000, depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition to base salary, our total compensation package may include participation in the company’s annual cash bonus plan, equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive range of health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits based on eligibility.
