Senior Commercial Counsel
Datadog is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to join its Legal team, focusing on the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, particularly India and Southeast Asia. This role involves leading complex negotiations with customers and partners, providing strategic legal guidance, and contributing to the company's growth in these dynamic markets. The position offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative environment at a rapidly expanding SaaS company.
Key responsibilities include negotiating and finalizing a variety of commercial agreements to support customer sales and partner engagements across India and Southeast Asia. The role also involves delivering practical legal advice to internal business teams, coaching sales team members on negotiation strategies, and improving contract templates and processes in line with emerging laws and regulations in the region. Additionally, the Senior Commercial Counsel will support knowledge-sharing and mentorship within the Commercial Legal team and build strong relationships with stakeholders across the APJ region.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned attorney, preferably qualified in India, with at least eight years of experience in law firms and/or in-house commercial transactional roles involving Indian and Southeast Asian jurisdictions. Experience in negotiating SaaS contracts and familiarity with related technology areas such as privacy, security, intellectual property, and AI are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
