Tyson & Mendes LLP is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its Complex Trial Team in New York City. This role involves leading high-exposure and complex insurance defense cases, including those related to catastrophic injury, wrongful death, property damage, and professional liability. The Senior Counsel will be responsible for developing and executing case strategies, conducting risk assessments, managing discovery processes, and preparing for trials. Key duties include overseeing all stages of litigation, serving as lead counsel in jury and bench trials, and collaborating with expert witnesses to strengthen case arguments. Additionally, the role involves providing clear legal advice to clients and mentoring junior attorneys and support staff.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and hold an active license to practice law in New York, with eligibility to practice in federal courts. A minimum of eight years of experience in insurance defense litigation, with a strong focus on complex trial work, is required. Demonstrated success as lead trial counsel in multiple high-stakes cases, along with exceptional oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation skills, are essential. Experience in catastrophic injury, construction defect, or professional liability cases is preferred.

The base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $200,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys are eligible for an annual billable hours bonus starting at $10,000, with additional tiers offering $7,500 each.
