The Senior Counsel - Employment Law at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) will provide comprehensive legal guidance on employment matters within the Office of General Counsel. This role involves collaborating with management, Staff Relations, Employee Relations, and Human Resources to address various employment issues. LLNL is a premier research laboratory dedicated to advancing science and technology to strengthen U.S. security and promote global stability.

Key responsibilities include offering practical legal advice on the entire employment lifecycle, from hiring and onboarding to performance management, compensation, discipline, benefits, leaves of absence, accommodations, and terminations. The role also involves conducting legal research, monitoring developments in employment laws and regulations, and recommending strategies for proactive compliance and policy development. Additionally, the Senior Counsel will develop and deliver training for managers and staff on employment law topics, support internal investigations, and represent the laboratory in various legal proceedings.

Candidates should possess a Juris Doctorate and be a member of the California Bar or eligible to obtain a limited practice license as Registered In-House Counsel in California. A strong background in employment law, including experience in managing employment litigation and providing practical legal advice, is essential. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of federal and California state employment laws, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
