The Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property at Oklo will play a pivotal role in developing and managing the company's intellectual property strategy. This position involves close collaboration with product and engineering teams to identify and protect innovative technologies, ensuring Oklo's advancements in nuclear technology are effectively safeguarded. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role offers the opportunity to build a world-class IP function within a dynamic and rapidly growing environment.

Key responsibilities include leading patenting efforts by developing patent strategies, conducting patent mining sessions with inventors, drafting and refining claims, and coordinating with outside counsel for patent filings and prosecutions. The role also encompasses managing the existing patent portfolio, making decisions on renewals, international filings, and potential patent sales. Additionally, the Senior Counsel will negotiate IP-related licensing and contracting discussions with various entities, including National Laboratories and federal agencies, and support freedom-to-operate analyses and IP due diligence.

Candidates must possess a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state, and U.S. Patent Bar admission. A technical background in nuclear, electrical, or chemical engineering is required, along with 5-7 years of intellectual property experience in a large law firm or in-house legal department. Experience in drafting patent claims, managing patent prosecution, and negotiating IP licensing and technology transfer agreements is essential. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously are also critical.
