Senior Counsel, Privacy (Fintech Area)
Agoda is seeking a Senior Counsel specializing in privacy within the fintech sector to join its dynamic legal team in Bangkok. This role focuses on providing comprehensive legal support for data privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence matters related to Agoda's fintech products and payment initiatives. The successful candidate will serve as the primary legal advisor to fintech stakeholders across the company, collaborating closely with sister brands within the Booking Holdings group.
Key responsibilities include offering end-to-end legal counsel on privacy, AI, and data protection issues pertinent to Agoda's fintech products in Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The role involves monitoring, interpreting, and implementing global privacy and payment regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, PDPA, PIPA, APPI, and PSD2. Additionally, the Senior Counsel will collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed privacy-by-design principles throughout product and data lifecycles, lead privacy impact assessments, and conduct data mapping exercises. The position also entails assessing third-party privacy and AI risks, negotiating and reviewing relevant contractual terms, supporting regulatory applications and audits, and drafting and maintaining privacy policies and internal documentation.
The ideal candidate will possess a law degree from a top law school with excellent academic credentials and have a minimum of six years of post-qualification experience, including at least two years at a reputable law firm. Demonstrated experience advising on privacy matters within the fintech, payments, or financial services sectors is essential. A strong knowledge of global privacy laws and payment regulations is required, along with excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. The candidate should be a self-starter with adaptability and enthusiasm for building new products and processes.
