Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer

The Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer at Pattern will play a pivotal role in modernizing the company's data platform. This position is based in Pune, India, and offers a hybrid work environment. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for designing and operating modern data stacks, ensuring scalability and efficiency. Key responsibilities include building performant, concurrent data services and platform tooling, applying DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering principles to data infrastructure, and managing relational stores alongside distributed systems to ensure data consistency and optimal query performance. The engineer will also be expected to articulate complex architectural trade-offs and collaborate effectively within design reviews.

Candidates should have strong proficiency in building concurrent data services, with Go preferred, though expertise in Java, Python, Ruby, or Scala is also acceptable. Experience with modern open-source architectures involving Apache Iceberg, Glue catalog, S3 for storage, Trino, Spark, Clickhouse for compute, and Kafka for streaming within a Kubernetes environment is essential. Proficiency in defining infrastructure using Terraform or CloudFormation, creating self-healing systems, and setting up observability solutions is required. Additionally, the ability to manage and tune relational stores like Postgres/RDS is necessary.
