Senior Data Scientist - Experimentation & Measurement
As a Senior Data Scientist on the Decision Science team within the Data Science, Analytics, & Enablement (DSAE) organization at PlayStation, you will play a pivotal role in designing and interpreting experiments that assess the impact of user migration initiatives from PS4 to PS5, growth marketing strategies, and overall campaign performance. This position is integral to advancing PlayStation's experimentation practices by introducing statistical rigor, clear measurement strategies, and deep causal inference expertise to critical initiatives across the company.
In this role, you will lead the design, execution, and interpretation of A/B tests and quasi-experiments to evaluate various initiatives. Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including product, engineering, and marketing—you will embed experimentation into development and iteration cycles. Additionally, you will serve as a thought leader on best practices for hypothesis development, metric selection, test structure, and results communication. Applying advanced causal inference methods when direct experimentation isn't feasible will also be a key aspect of your responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience in a data science role focused on experimentation (3+ years with a PhD). Deep expertise in A/B testing and causal inference, including quasi-experimental methods, is essential. Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and transformation, as well as in Python and its statistical and data science libraries, is required. A broad and applied knowledge of statistical techniques and machine learning modeling methods, along with a proven ability to influence product and business decisions through clear, actionable insights, are also necessary. Experience contributing to or developing experimentation frameworks, best practices, or internal tooling is highly valued.
PlayStation offers a competitive compensation package, with an estimated base pay range of $178,900 to $268,300 USD.
