Senior Data Scientist III - Agentic AI
LexisNexis Legal & Professional is seeking a Senior Data Scientist III to lead the design and validation of Agentic AI-driven product capabilities within the legal domain. This role focuses on defining what to build and why—leveraging machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and large language models (LLMs) to solve complex legal workflows. The successful candidate will drive experimentation, modeling, and evaluation, partnering closely with engineers to translate validated approaches into scalable, customer-facing solutions.
Key responsibilities include leading experimentation and model development for AI/ML solutions in legal products, designing and evaluating NLP, LLM, and generative AI approaches, and defining agentic workflows and reasoning strategies for multi-step legal tasks. The role also involves defining retrieval strategies, analyzing large-scale legal datasets to extract insights, establishing best practices for model evaluation, and collaborating with product managers, legal experts, and engineers to align solutions with user needs. Additionally, the Senior Data Scientist III will mentor team members and provide technical leadership in data science and AI.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or Mathematics. Strong experience in machine learning, NLP, and LLM-based modeling is required, along with proven experience designing and running experiments, including model evaluation and iteration. Experience with generative AI techniques, designing and evaluating hybrid search using embeddings and vector databases, and designing agentic workflows and reasoning strategies is also essential. Proficiency in Python and data analysis tools, as well as the ability to analyze large-scale legal datasets to extract insights and improve model performance, are necessary.
