Senior Director, Head of Cybersecurity & Privacy Legal
Zscaler, a leader in cloud-native cybersecurity solutions, is seeking a Senior Director, Head of Cybersecurity & Privacy Legal to lead its global data security and privacy legal function. This senior leadership role reports directly to the Deputy General Counsel for Commercial Legal and is pivotal in shaping the company's approach to data protection across its platform. The position is ideally based in San Jose, CA, but remote work options are available for the right candidate.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams such as Security, Compliance, and IT to provide expert legal guidance on data security, cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance matters. You will lead the legal aspects of incident management and response, offering strategic advice during security events. Additionally, you will guide the implementation of Privacy/Security by Design across Zscaler's expanding platform and manage a team of four experienced privacy lawyers.
The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in the United States. With over 15 years of experience focusing on data security, cybersecurity, and privacy within the SaaS, Software, Tech, or Cybersecurity sectors, you should have significant experience in cyber incident response, negotiating security and privacy components of complex contracts, and advising executive leadership on these matters. A deep understanding of global privacy and AI laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and the EU AI Act, is essential.
